1a. With each new action of the government the Jews trust that
they are being taken to a safe place and that their lives were in no danger
even while being taken in to the camp in a caged transportation vehicle. Even
with the attitude towards them when they were being transported they didn’t
feel anything was wrong and that the government would keep them safe through
each new infrigments.

1. “There were no longer any questions of
wealth, of social distinction, and importance, only people all condemned to the
same fate- still unknown.”
The importance of this is that people are
still peaceful enough to recognize that they are in the same predicament and
shouldn't make unneccesary problems.
2. “ The cherished objects we had brought
with us thus far were left behind in the train, and with them, at last, our
illusions.”
This is when they left into Auschwitz and
they all had realized as they entered that they could no longer console
themselves or be ignorant to the problems they are heading into
3. "You must never lose faith, even
when the sword hangs over your head."
This was important to how the people in
this story still had hope, many of them lost hope countless times and many
times they had acted ignorant to the problems they were faced against.
4. " Powerless to still our own
anguish, we tried to console ourselves."
Throughout the story this is an important
quote because they are constantly in anguish and we see many times how people
try to console themselves through different methods.
5. " People refused not only to
believe his stories, but even to listen to them."
This refers to Mosh the Beadle and how
people wouldn't believe his tale and that the people constantly rejected him
due to trying to avoid unneccesary trouble and stay carefree.
